DANCING WITH LAFAYETTE

       Photos from Tuesday, March 18th

The Beaufort History Museum and the City of Beaufort sponsored a "Dancing With Lafayette" party at the Arsenal. Under beautiful skies, patrons danced the night away with the help of a colonial instructor.  General Marquis de Lafayette himself was the toast of the party and all seemed to enjoy the evening!!

The Beaufort History Museum Presented

"Piece of Our Past" Auction!

On Thursday, March 14th, 2024, at the home of Phil and Amelie Cromer, members and friends of the Museum spent an exquisite evening filled with nostalgia and history at the "Piece of Our Past" Auction, a fundraiser for the BHM. This remarkable event offered an exclusive opportunity to acquire artifacts and treasures from a range of memorabilia and historical objects stored in the museum’s archives, as well as two exotic trips for four to Mexico and Havana. Guests engaged in the thrill of bidding for these remarkable artifacts as our knowledgeable auctioneer guided us through the process, an exciting experience for all attendees.

Held in the backyard of the Cromer’s Spanish Point home, the event sold out of its 100 allotted tickets more than a week before the auction, and then generated over $11,000 in donation income for the Museum.

LIVE FROM NEW YORK, BROADWAY AMERICANA

Saturday, June 24, 2023

USCB Center for the Arts,

805 Carteret Street

Beaufort SC 29902

You missed a great one...singers from one of the world's--and America's--best known theatrical venues performed a medley of songs from some of Broadway's biggest hits with a historical theme. Song selection consisted of Americana music and hits from such well-known productions as "Hamilton", "1776", "Porgy and Bess", "The Civil War”, and “Ragtime".

The group was led by Beaufort resident, Lenora Eve whose family's roots trace back many generations in Beaufort’s soil. She holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in music and vocal performance and is currently the Executive Artistic Director at Opera Breve in New York City where she is a vocal instructor and accompanist/coach.
