               D. Michael Thomas is a South Carolinian and this is his second book. His first, Wade Hampton’s Iron Scouts: Confederate Special Forces, was published in 2018. He graduated from The Citadel with a B.A. in History and is a Vietnam veteran with active duty service in the navy from 1968-1972.  He is a life-long student of Southern history with special emphasis on the War Between the States.

Michael spent 5 years in banking and 31 years in International trade before retiring in 2008. When living near Richmond, Virginia, he spent ten years with the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia serving as a volunteer historical researcher and, later, as a member of the Board of Directors. His research on Chesterfield County veterans from Colonial times to the Gulf War led him to author numerous newsletter articles on those veterans and their service.

Michael supported his local Little League for 13 years as a coach, umpire and member of the Board of Directors. He is an active member of the American Legion and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.  Michael & his wife DeeDee reside in Goose Creek and, in May, will celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary.

The author will have books available for purchase and signing.
